Having smoothies for breakfast will keep us filling.. On a busy days, we cannot spend much time for making breakfasts.. Just taking fruits coming in hand and making them as smoothies is a good choice.. And I do it mostly with seasonal fruits... Its fresh blueberry sale right from the farmer's market, overhere. I picked a small box for me. I love the flavor and taste of blueberries. They are rich in anti-oxidants.

This blueberry and banana smoothie is very very delicious in taste.. You can add a very little sugar, if you wish. I am skipping sugar. Just a step ahead for health. This can be included as a breakfast in your weight loss diet..

If your mornings are damn busy, you can make a few arrangements in weekends. Just wash and store fruits in a zip lock cover and freeze it.. The smoothie can be made in the mornings.. It helps us not to skip breakfast..

Whenever you are invited to parties or functions, you will automatically start thinking about your appearance.. Guys think about their tummy (paunch) and Girls think about their weight, face, skin and dark circles.. They will need a quick fix to appear slightly thin in business or ethnic attires during celebrations.. There is nothing wrong in this.. Makeovers make a man fulfilled.. Of course, attitude carries the rest..

I can suggest you a plan to reduce weight quickly for attending parties.. A temporary weight loss plan..This plan can be adapted for just two weeks.. After that, continuing the same will make you malnourished.. Never ever extend a quick fix solution for a long time and never think about a permanent weight loss with it.. Men can lose about 4-6 pounds in two weeks and Women can aim for losing 3-5 pounds.. And it will show more in inches.. It will give a good skin glow and you will appear so bright..   • You must have 8 hours sleep.. Sleep is must.. In case you can't sleep well, better don't think about weight loss.. It will result in a severe brain damage..
  • Never continue this after 14 days
  • Never try this kind of diet when your health is not in a good condition

The best recipe to prepare a perfect herbal tea make it more interesting.. Take 300 ml hot water and dip a tea bag.. Let all the spices and color of the tea get into the hot water.. Now add one teaspoon of honey and stir well.. If the water is hot enough to dissolve honey, then it is the right time to take a sip of the herbal tea.. Have a cup and feel refreshed.. 

Whenever I take a sip of herbal teas, I remember one of my friend, who gave me Peach Tea.. Absolutely in perfect hotness, perfect sweet and in a perfect coffee mug.. She had various other flavors too.. Hope she will review about those items in future..

This is a postpartum recipe.. This will improve lactation and good for breast feeding women.. We use ajwain/ omam in the Pathiya Kuzhambu.. After having the kuzhambu for 10 days, I got food aversion.. At that time, my mom was pushed to find new postpartum recipes.. She found it hectic to give me foods for lactation.. She in fact called almost all her friends and collected all possible recipes from people around.. 

My mother-in-law's mom is a good expert in postpartum treatment.. She is a nice lady and we can collect a lot of home remedies from her.. She introduced nearly 20 different items to us.. All of them were very easy to make and tasty to have.. I can proudly say that I had nearly 50 variety of postpartum dishes.. All collected from people around.. I wish to make a note of them in my blog.. This Omam and Karuppatti Payasam or Ajwain Sweet Payasam is a one among them.. Please make a note of this easy weasy recipe.. 

I wish to add one particular note.. During postpartum treatment, there is no need to overuse anything.. Overusing may cause food aversion.. Same time, there is no need to completely omit any item.. Also we must take care that the milk we feed our baby should be nutrition and vitamin rich.. So just along with spices, we need to include some vegetables, nuts and food items for vitamins.. This is an Indian style post pregnancy recipe to include in your diet.. This can be taken by breast feeding women, as it is a good source of iron..

Omam Karuppatti Payasam or Ajwain Sweet

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
Ajwain2 Teaspoon
Palm Jaggerysmall piece
Rice Flour1 Teaspoon


Quick Procedure
Take required ingredients.. Heat a pan and add ajwain to it.. Roast it till ajwain sputters..
Add water to the pan and let it boil..
Powder Jaggery and add water to it.. Dissolve it and strain it to remove impurities..
After ajwain is boiled well, add jaggery water to it.. It is always good if you add
moderate amount of palm jaggery.. Strain ajwain from this concoction if you wish..
Add dissolve rice flour in water and add it to the concoction.. Let it boil once..
Now the Omam and Karuppatti Payasam or Ajwain Sweet Payasam is ready..

There are a number of website to find out the calories in whatever food we eat.. In the beginning of my weight loss journey, I used a number of tools.. I used some tools to note down the calories and some to look into the calories in food items I ate.. I have a draft of all the Indian Food Items and their calories.. It is a rough sheet that cannot be used public.. After i started blogging, I am trying to classify the sheet and wish publishing it for sake of some viewers..

It is never good to become a calorie maniac.. Also it is not practical in long run.. At the same time people must be aware of what they eat.. The lack of knowledge may result in a unnoticed weight gain, over a period of time.. I never suggest to count number by number.. It is enough to have idea on  high, low, medium in fat, protein or carbs.. It will help you walk more or eat less, right after the day of a heavy meal.. At-least you can maintain current body weight, isn't it ?? 

On the other hand, an obese buddy who tries to lose more weight cannot do the same thing.. Counting calories becomes a must for those who are in a very strict weight loss diet.. I hope this chart would be useful to you in getting a knowledge in healthy and fatty food items..

You are not going to eat one full cup of gravies, so don't get shocked by the values.. 1 cup may come up to 3-4 servings depending on your interest for the dish.. This recipe is one I learnt from Chef Jacob's Kitchen (nearly 4 years before).. I noted it and made this powder as I was searching for a lot of easy ways to reduce weight.. I hope this one is useful to you.. This is a Indian weight loss recipe..

Kollu Podi or Horse-gram Powder

Recipe Source: Chef Jacob's Kitchen |   Preparation Time: 30 minutes     
Serving Size: 20 (2 Tablespoons each) |  Calories: 30 per Serving

Ingredients
Horse Gram1 cup
Bengal Gram2 Tablespoons
Red Chillies4 or 6
Curry Leavesa handful
Garlic Cloves7-12 cloves
Asafoetida¼ Teaspoon
Tamarind2 inch strip (dry & torn)

Quick Procedure
Take required ingredients.. Heat a pan.. all ingredients except horse-gram and asafoetida.. Dry roast them until all of them are roasted fine.. This is just like you do for Idli Gun Powder..
Remove the roasted ingredients to a pan and let them cool down.. Add horse gram to the hot pan and roast it till it is heated up..
Remove horse gram to a plate and add asafoetida to it.. Asafoetida will get roasted in the heat of other items.. No need to roast separately.. Add salt.. This roasted items should be cooled well..
Take them in a blender and powder it nicely.. Once done, add tamarind torn into strips and give a last pulse.. This will increase the taste of the powder.. Cool the powder once again and store it in bottles.. This will come with a shelf life of 3-5 months..
This powder can be used while making rasam.. This powder can be used for making Kollu Sadham.. Or it can be just added to rice and gingelly oil..

I remember this soup very well.. From the fifth month of my pregnancy, I used to take a lot and lot of soups.. Especially to get good iron and calcium.. This soup is one among them.. I am not a fan of drumstick and all.. I don't like the smell and taste.. So initially I was thinking too much to make this soup.. Late, I convinced myself and made this as per my mom's instructions.. Yup, it was good.. I could have a bowl of soup without hatred (lol).. I made it very often and had it in my food diet.. This is really a tasty Indian style soup..

This soup is a post pregnancy dish, which helps lactation.. This can be taken by breast feeding women, as it is a good source of calcium..It is rich in Iron and Calcium.. This is an Indian style post pregnancy recipe to include in your diet.. You can also add this kind of soup in your weight loss diet plan and make it more interesting..



Murungaikkai Rasam | Drumstick Rasam | Pathiya Samayal

Ingredients
  • 2 young drumsticks
  • small piece of tamarind
  • salt
  • little oil

to coarsely grind
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 5 pepper corns
  • 1/4 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/4 tsp cumin or seerakam
  • curry leaves
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • a pinch of asafoetida or kayam

Quick Procedure
  • Cut drumsticks to pieces. Boil some water and add salt. Add the drumstick pieces and cook till they become soft. If you wish, you can pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  • Scratch the pieces with a spoon and remove the flesh to a separate plate. Collect the water separately. You may throw out the hard part.
  • Take the ingredients given under grinding in a blender.. Grind it coarsely.
  • Heat very little oil. Add the ground mix and coriander leaves. Saute twice.. Its time to add drumstick water.
  • Add the very small strip of tamarind.. Let everything boil well..
  • After it boils well, remove the tamarind with a ladle..
  • Add drumstick flesh to the boiling soup.. Switch off the flame..
  • This Iron and Calcium rich soup can be served hot..

Most of the women who have PCOD/PCOS are overweight.. When they try reducing weight, a normal weight loss diet will not work out effectively.. The cravings is different..

The insulin rise and drop is different for PCOS.. So the type of diet followed must be different.. It should be like having some sweet things in diet to satisfy craving.. At the same time, carbs should not be more.. Hence the diet should be tricky..

You can reduce 2 pounds a week, if you follow this diet.

  Some General Tips
  • Drink 3 to 4 liters of water. Although it is tough in this winter, we can never achieve a weight loss without drinking enough water.
  • Cook using gingelly oil or olive oil
  • Avoid dairy products other than curd
  • Avoid chicken or use organic chicken, if needed. Use nattu kozhi muttai or organic brown eggs.
  • Avoid beans and corns
  • No Restaurant or Hotel Food

Now let us see the sample diet chart or PCOD Diet Plan. It will be with more proteins and less carbs.

Diet Plan for PCOD Weight Loss 

Early Morning
  • any herbal tea
  • 10 soaked almonds

Breakfast Include any one from the following option
  • 2 idlis with flax seeds idli powder
  • 1 cup of Millet Porridge
  • 1 cup of Oats with Skimmed Milk and Raw Sugar (sweet cravings)
  • Smoothies with Chia Seeds or Flax Seeds
  • 1 wheat bread toast with apples

Mid-Day Snack
  • Guava or Gooseberries

Lunchany one from the following option. strictly no rice.
  • Brown Rice Recipes with Chunky Vegetable Side Dish
  • 2 Chapathis with Dhal and Vegetable Curry made with less oil
  • Any healthy Soup + Salad with a piece of toasted bread

Evening Snack
  • Coffee or Tea with Half Sugar and 2 Fiber Biscuits
  • 1/2 cup Sundal or fruit salad (for craving)
