I am good fan of Puliseri.. Puliseri is a very important dish in Nagercoil Cuisine.. We make a number of variety in Puliseri.. We usually have it along with hot rice and any thoran.. I love making Puliseri and would make it once in a week atleast.. And this white pumpkin is one of my favorites.. White pumpkin is a superbcool vegetable which will reduce body weight.. Stomach fat will be dissolved if you eat more of this water vegetable.. That is the reason, why I include this white pumpkin in most of my recipes.. If you are following a weight loss diet, include white pumpkin often..
Coming back to this puliseri.. It is a tangy and tasty dish.. The color will be also pleasing.. As this is a traditional recipe, I have seen verious versions of it.. The one I am posting here is a very simple one.. Soon, I will post some other versions too.. I had this white pumpkin puliseri as a side dish for Samai Rice.. Samai will taste similiar to rice and that is the reason why I substitute samai in place of rice some days.. Some of my friends asked, where we can buy this Samai.. Samai will be available in most of the Mooligai or Whole Sale Shops.. In Nagercoil, it is available in Lyns Supermarket and Ganesh Super Market.. In Chennai, Samai is available in most of the supermarkets.. If you wish to find something cost effective, you could reach Whole Sale Shops.. Here in US, I found a soulful packet of this little millet in Bhavani Indian Shop.. Cook some Samai.. Add his pulisery and have some thoran for sides.. It will make a very tasty lunch.. This recipe is diabetic friendly..
