In this post, we are going to see the recipe for Broccoli Pepper Fry. It is a pakka South Indian Style Broccoli Pepper Fry. I have added masalas like that. And this will be Broccoli in Indian style.
Broccoli is one of the vegetables having more protein. Unfortunately, I hate boiled broccoli. I am always convenient with Indian recipes with a bit of masala flavor. Hence, I have noted down a few broccoli recipes from my friend. She is good in cooking and she has given me a lot of tips to cook Broccoli.
This broccoli pepper fry can be had with chapatis or hot steamed rice and rasam. It tastes like a non-vegetarian gravy. Broccoli Pepper Fry is a protein rich side dish to include in your weight loss dinner or weight loss lunch. Along with this note, I wish to add a few points from a few book. I am reading a lot of weight loss and diet related books. In most of them, they advise us to include more protein in our diet. The recipes they have given are completely western and it comprises mostly chicken and pork. As I cannot follow them exactly as dippy copy, I am trying to give you a lot more protein rich side dishes and main dishes too.

Broccoli Pepper Fry Recipe

Ingredients

  • half head Broccoli
  • 2 tsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 Onion Sliced
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Tomato Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Curry Masala Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper Powder
  • little Curry Leaves
  • a small Cinnamon
  • little Salt

Instructions

  1. Cut broccoli into thin pieces. Bring water to boil and add broccoli pieces. Let it rest for 1 minute. You can switch off the flame.Drain broccoli and wash it in cold water. This will make it stiff. 

  2. Heat some coconut oil in a pan. Add a piece of cinnamon and sprinkle some curry leaves. Let them sputter.

  3. Add onions and saute till they become soft. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off. Add tomatoes and cook till they become soft.

  4. Add broccoli florets and saute for few minutes. Add curry masala powder and saute till the raw smell goes off. Add salt and reduce the flame to low. Cover the pan and cook for few minutes till broccoli becomes soft.

  5. Open the lid and give a gentle saute. Finally, add pepper powder and saute for a while. Switch off the flame and serve it hot.

Step-wise Pictures

Add Salt and reduce the flame to low. Cover the pan and cook for few minutes till broccoli becomes soft.

Open the lid and give a gentle saute. Finally, add pepper powder and saute for a while.  Switch off the flame and serve it hot.
