Atho - I exactly remember when I got used to this word. I saw Vijay TV awarding a person for Burma Atho Kadai at 2nd Lane Beach Road, Chennai. Right from then I had a craze over this atho. I have asked my husband to pick me to the shop several times. He is not a fan of street foods and he never picked me there. I think God himself knew my wish. There was a Burma Noodles shop opened in Nanmangalam. First day itself I went there and asked for an Atho. I don't know any other name :) That is the reason. I like salads and hence loved the atho. I became a customer and friends with them. Atlast after 1 year, they shared me their secret recipe, hiding a few ingredients. I am sharing that with you.
I love Asian salads. Burmese atho is a lovely salad with fresh flavors. It has cabbage, onions and little rice noodles. To have a gluten free salad, don't use regular maida noodles. Usually most of the salads taste only better with dressing. We have used a healthy dressing with gingelly oil. In you healthy diet, you could have a serving of this salad as lunch or dinner. The taste and flavor will linger in your tongue for a very long time. Even without noodles, this salad will taste good.
