Kara Pori | Manjal Pori | Low Fat Snack Ideas

spicy puffed rice

If you are from south side of Tamilnadu, you might be very familiar with this snack. Kara Pori or Manja Pori. It will be very tasty and very low in calorie. It is really nice to see such low calorie and flavored snacks being traditional. When we were staying in hostel, my friend's mom used to give it as a big and large paper bag. It will be having flavors of garlic, asafoetida and spicy too. We all loved the snack and asked for the recipe. It was so simple. The best thing about this snack is, itself being very low in calories. As puffed rice fills the stomach so easily, you will be able to eat only a very limited quantity and it limits the calories. It is a way lower in cost too.

Usually, they add little fried peanuts for more taste. I have not added it in this recipe. Just to lower the calories, nothing else. You can guiltlessly take this one as a snack during your weight loss journey.
