I am not a great fan of oats. I love millets and hence, never tried including oats in my diet. But nowadays I am quite lazy and need a quick breakfast with no oil at all. We usually make poondu paal kanji in our home and I made this oats porridge in the same manner. It became a comfortable breakfast for my weight loss diet. As I have gained nearly 8 extra pounds, I am trying to lose weight and I need some tasty and comfortable breakfast. This oats porridge is really good in taste and excellent in flavor. It also takes very less time to get cooked.

Oats helps to absorb cholesterol and it reduces body fat. It also has considerable amount of fiber and hence, it is good for weight loss diet. try this one day and you will definitely love this. I have prepared this in the same manner my mom prepares poondu paal kanji. Poondu paal kanji is one common porridge which we make in Tirunelveli to treat gastric troubles and ulcer. If you are really troubled because of gastric ulcer and stomach pain, try to include this regular paal kanji in your diet. It will give best results.

Oats Kanji Recipe or Oats Porridge Recipe for Weight Loss

Ingredients

  • half cup Quick Oats or Whole Oats
  • half cup Milk
  • 5 Garlic Pods (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds (seerakam)
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek (vendhayam)
  • little Salt

Instructions

  1. Boil a cup of water in a pan and add garlic, cumin seeds and fenugreek. Cook till garlic becomes soft.

  2. Add Oats now. As it is quick oats, it will not take more than 3 minutes to get cooked. If it is whole oats, it will take 10 minutes.

  3. Add boiled and cooled milk. Bring it to room temperature and add little salt. Oats Porridge is ready to serve.
