
I am not a great fan of oats. I love millets and hence, never tried including oats in my diet. But nowadays I am quite lazy and need a quick breakfast with no oil at all. We usually make poondu paal kanji in our home and I made this oats porridge in the same manner. It became a comfortable breakfast for my weight loss diet. As I have gained nearly 8 extra pounds, I am trying to lose weight and I need some tasty and comfortable breakfast. This oats porridge is really good in taste and excellent in flavor. It also takes very less time to get cooked.
Oats helps to absorb cholesterol and it reduces body fat. It also has considerable amount of fiber and hence, it is good for weight loss diet. try this one day and you will definitely love this. I have prepared this in the same manner my mom prepares poondu paal kanji. Poondu paal kanji is one common porridge which we make in Tirunelveli to treat gastric troubles and ulcer. If you are really troubled because of gastric ulcer and stomach pain, try to include this regular paal kanji in your diet. It will give best results.

Notes:
- Never try to make this as a one pot recipe and put all things together.
- You must cook garlic, cumin seeds and fenugreek first and then add oats.
- You can use either rolled oats or whole grain oats. Only the cooking time differs. Cooking time for quick and instant oats is approximately 5 minutes. Cooking time for whole grain oats is approximately 10 minutes.

Oats Poondu Kanji | Garlic Flavored Oats Porridge

Ingredients
- Oats - 1/4 cup
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fenugreek - 1/4 teaspoon
- Garlic Cloves - 10
- Milk - 1/4 cup
- Water 2 cups
Quick Procedure
- Take water in a vessel. Boil it. Add cumin seeds, garlic and fenugreek. Let it get cooked for 5 minutes.
- Add oats and cook it. If it is quick oats, cooking time is 5 minutes. If it is whole grain oats, cooking time is 10 to 15 minutes.
- Once it is cooked, add milk and switch off the flame. Once it gets cooled a bit, add little salt and serve it.
