It will be filling and sometimes we won't even need a dinner.

It is very simple to make. There is no overhead job with mixing rice flour and that too knowing the correct patham. Even bachelors can give a try out of this recipe. There wont be any taste difference from regular kara kozhukattai. Only the calories and making time is less. Good right ?

Aval Pidi Kozhukkattai | Aval Kara Kozhukkattai | Simple Poha Kozhukkattai

Ingredients
  • thin poha - 1 cup
  • mustard seeds, urid dhal, chana dal - each 1/4 teaspoon
  • red chillies - 1, cut into pieces
  • curry leaves - little
  • coconut pieces - little

Quick Procedure
  • Soak aval or poha for 5 minutes, adding salt. Press it with fingers and drain water from the aval. Spread it over a plate and dry it for few minutes.
  • Heat a pan. Add mustard seeds, chana dal, urid dhal. Let them get a golden colour. Add coconut pieces, red chillies and curry leaves. Fry them for a minute. Switch off the flame.
  • Add drained aval and mix well. Add salt if needed and Mix well.
  • Make medium sized balls out of it and steam it in an idli steamer. Aval Kara Kozhukattai will be ready in simple steps.
