Carrot Chapati Recipe | Rotis for Diet

I saw this recipe in Samayal Samayal program. Chef Venkatesh Bhat made a carrot poori in that day's show. Though he did not make a carrot chapathi, he told the recipe in words. He gave the tips to make it soft. When I first made it, I made it very simple without any spices. I thought my kiddo will like it. Yes, she liked it more. This encouraged me to make it for elders too. I added some spices, as per my taste. It was really good. If you ask me what are the uses, I would say that this will make a simple lunch. You could taste it simply with curd. This carrot chapathis will taste excellent with curd. You could make it easily and carry as your lunch. You can use beetroot chapathi instead of carrot chapathi.

Ingredients
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 small potato
  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp curry masala powder
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • salt per taste
  • oil for making chapathis

Quick Procedure
  • Cut carrot and potatoes. Boil them and cook till they become soft. Strain and cool them.
  • Take them in a blender and puree the carrots and potatoes.
  • Take 2 cups of wheat flour in a wide vessel. 
  • Add chilli powder, curry masala powder, salt and mix well.
  • You can now add ghee, carrot puree, ginger garlic paste and water, 
  • Mix well and knead it as a chapathi dough, Cover it with damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  • Make round balls and flatten them as chapathis. 
  • Heat a pan. Grease some oil. Maintain a medium to high flame. Place the chapathis. After few minutes, reduce the flame to medium and flip the chapathis. Cook till they are done. 
  • Carrot chapathis will be ready to have hot with curd or pack for lunch.
