Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 1/4 cup toor dhal
  • 1 tsp moong dhal
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp sambar powder
  • little tamarind
  • required salt and coriander leaves
Vegetables
  • half brinjal
  • half carrot
  • 5-7 green beans
  • half small tomato
  • 5 shallots
  • 3 garlic cloves (optional)
Tempering
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • curry leaves

Quick Procedure
  • Wash and clean rice and dhal. Chop all vegetables. Soak tamarind and extract the paste.
  • Take rice, dhal and vegetables in a pressure cooker.
  • Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, sambar powder and tamarind paste. Add 3 cups of water and required salt.
  • Pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame.
  • Open after steam and pressure subsides. Let it cool down from hot to warm.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the tempering. Heat coconut oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add it to the cooked item. Give a gentle mix and add chopped coriander leaves.
  • Quinoa Sambar Rice is ready.

Stepwise Pictures
Take dhal and quinoa. Wash and clean well.

Chop vegetables and extract tamarind paste.

Take dhal, quinoa, vegetables, asafoetida, turmeric powder, sambar powder, tamarind paste, salt and 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker.

Cook in medium flame for 3 to 4 whistles

After the pressure subsides, open the lid. Cool down it from hot to warm.

Now prepare tadka. Heat some coconut oil. Add mustards, cumin and curry leaves. Let them sputter.

Transfer it to cooked quinoa. Gently mix. Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves. Quinoa Sambar Rice is ready.
