Hot Orange Tea is good for weight loss. It is a home remedy for sore throat too. This Orange Tea is very commonly known as “Orange Spiced Tea”. Most of you might be using tea bags.
For me, the taste of homemade teas is far better than tea bags. As I always say, homemade tea mixtures are really good in taste and healthy without any preservative. Orange tea is a recent hit at my home. I am making it often and having hot Orange Tea very often. It will be tangy and with rich orange flavors. I am adding a tint of grambu or cloves. That will spice it up. The flavor will be enhanced.
This recipe has 2 steps.
  • Step 1 : Preparing an Orange Tea Mixture. You can store this tea mixture in an airtight container and preserve it in refrigerator. The shelf life will be upto 2 weeks.
  • Step 2: Preparing hot Orange Tea. You mix a large teaspoon of orange tea mixture in hot cup of water. You can have a hot sip after mixing well. The titbits of orange will taste awesome. If you feel the bits and pieces of orange are disturbing, you can strain the orange tea and then drink it.

Ingredients

For Tea Mixture

  • 2 Oranges (ripe)
  • 5 Cloves (grambu)
  • 2 Tblspn Sugar (Organic Brown)
  • 1 Lemon (ripe)

For making Hot Tea

  • 1 Tblspn Orange Tea Mixture (we prepared earlier)
  • 1 Cup Hot Steaming Water

Instructions

For Tea Mixture

  1. Remove Orange Skin. Remove the seeds. Cut the inner flesh part. Take it in a saucepan. Add sugar. Cover the pan and start heating it. Maintain a medium flame and wait for 10 minutes. The oranges will become soft.
  2. With a spoon or ladle, smash the boiling mixture. Add a pinch of grambu (cloves) powder. Squeeze a lemon and extract the juice. Add this juice also. Increase the flame and cook it till it becomes thick. After 10 to 15 minutes, it will become more thick and starts giving a glaze.
  3. Cool it down. Collect it in an airtight container. You can use it to make tea, whenever needed. This can be kept in refrigerator upto 2 weeks. This is the orange tea mixture.

For Making Orange Tea

  1. Heat a cup of water. Take 1 large spoon of orange tea mixture and add to it. Mix well. You can have a hot sip of it. Orange Tea is ready.
    It is optional to strain it using a strainer. If you do not like the titbits of oranges in the tea, you can strain and serve it hot.

Take oranges. Remove the skin and seeds. Chop them.
Take chopped oranges and sugar in a saucepan. Cover and cook it in medium flame for 10 minutes or till orange becomes soft.
Smash it with spoon or ladle. Add a pinch of grambu powder (cloves).
Extract lemon juice and remove seeds from it. Add lemon juice to this orange mixture
Raise the flame and cook until the mixture becomes thick. Stir often.
Once the mixture becomes thick, switch off the flame and cool it down. Store it in an airtight container. and preserve it in refrigerator. The shelf life will be upto 2 weeks.
You mix a large teaspoon of orange tea mixture in hot cup of water. You can have a hot sip after mixing well. The titbits of orange will taste awesome. If you feel the bits and pieces of orange are disturbing, you can strain the orange tea and then drink it.
A hot hot sip of this Orange Tea will definitely cut down your cravings for sweets. For those who have PCOD, this tea can definitely help in managing unwanted food cravings.
