There are a number of mental exercises to increase memory. In addition to these practises, there are a lot of food items to refresh brain. If you include these food items in your diet regularly, the memory will improve naturally.
Some of these food items are advised by my mom. Some are advised by my family doctor. And few others, I referred from internet. My reference are here jhealthy, sunwarrior, thebetterindia and ndtv. I always prefer seasonals and budget wise options. So I have mentioned some budget wise options in this list below.
The list of Indian Food Items to increase Memory, naturally
- Fruits : Blueberries, Strawberries, Gooseberries, Oranges and Avocado
- Vegetables : Spinach, Beetroot, Tomatoes and Cabbage
- Coconut Oil and Olive Oil
- Nuts and Seeds
- Dhal and Beans
- Multigrains (Whole Grains)
- Dark Chocolate and Coffee
Fruits : Blueberries, Strawberries, Gooseberries, Oranges and Avocado
Berries are good to improve memory. Berries are location specific. Gooseberries are commonly prevalent in India. They are really best and budget wise. Oranges are also good for memory. If Avocados are available cheaper and best in your place, you can include them too.
Vegetables : Spinach, Beetroot, Tomatoes and Cabbage
Any kind of spinach is good for memory. Best is Arai Keerai. Beetroots, Red Cabbages, Tomatoes and Cabbage are also in the list of vegetables to increase memory power naturally.
Fishes rich in Omega 3
It may be any kind of fish rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Atlantic Salmon is the best. But Salmon is not commonly available in India. From Indian Fishes, Sardines (Chala Meen or Mathi), Tuna (Kilangan Meen or Choorai Meen) and Mackerel ( Kanangathai or Ayilai) are best in choice. They are cheaper too. If you do not like fish, you can prefer Fish Oil Tablets.
Eggs, specially Egg Yolks
Eggs are the cheaper protein every family can get. It will be great is it is Nattu Kozhi Muttai. Egg yolk are meant for improving memory.
Coconut Oil and Olive Oil
Coconut Oil and Olive Oil are meant to have lot of health benefits and one of the benefits is they improve memory.
Nuts and Seeds
Nuts include any kind of nuts like Almonds, Walnuts and Peanuts. Peanuts are budget wise. Who hates Peanut Chikkis (Kadala Mittai) ?. Seeds might be pumpkin seeds or cucumber seeds (Vellari Vidhai)
Dhal and Beans
Moong Dhal, Green Gram (Pasippayaru) and Black Chana can help better. They are mostly included in Indian Food Diet.
Multigrains (Whole Grains)
Kaikuthal Arisi, Broken Wheat (Dalia) and Whole Grain Atta are those multigrains we could easily include in Indian Food Diet to improve memory,
For those, we could never resists chocolates, the preference is Dark Chocolates. If you find it costly, even a sip of coffee (varai kaapi) works.
