One simple and easy recipe using this Pasi Payaru is Andhra Pesarattu or simply Pasi Payaru Dosai. Pasi Payaru Dosai is pretty common in Coimbatore Area. It is treated as a protein rich breakfast or a healthy evening snack.
Instead of swallowing multi-vitamin tablets, you can make some healthy recipes like these. This dosa is rich in flavors and has a good taste. The recipe is too simple to make with a very few ingredients commonly available at home. If you are trying to lose weight or trying to find healthy options for diabetic diet, you can definitely have this Pesarattu as your breakfast. It will digest slowly and hence helps to control hunger.

Ingredients

For Making Batter

  • 1 cup Moong Gram (Pasi Payaru)
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds (Seerakam)
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • Salt (required)

For Making Dosas

  • 1/2 Onion (finely chopped)
  • handful Coriander Leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1/8 cup Gingelly Oil

Instructions

  1. Soak Moong Gram or Pasi Payaru for 12 to 14 Hours.
  2. Take cumin, green chilli and ginger in a mixer jar and grind it. Add Soaked Moong Gram (Pasi Payaru) and grind it again. Add little water and grind it to a smooth batter. Add salt and let this batter rest for 1 hour. Letting it rest for 1 hours makes soft Pesarattu.
  3. Heat a griddle. Apply little oil and spread the batter. Sprinkle chopped onion and coriander. Apply little oil on top of it and the sides.
  4. Turn it to the next side after few minutes and cook till it becomes soft and well done. Transfer to a plate and serve with Chutneys of your choice.

Soak Moong Gram or Pasi Payaru for 12 to 14 Hours
