Indian Style Pasta Recipe

I like pasta the most. But skipped it as it is made of all purpose flour. But I never forget to buy a pack of whole grain pasta, whenever I see it in supermarkets. In India you can get 2 main brands, Del Monte and Bionatura. Both are good in taste.

Whole wheat macaronis and whole wheat fusilli are easy to cook and taste better when cooked. Penne would be slightly thick and would be hard to chew.

I made this using more vegetables. You can have this as a breakfast or dinner. It is rich in fiber. It is diabetic friendly. You can include it in your weight loss diet. It is one of the tasty dishes I included in my PCOD diet.

When I was working, I used to cook the pasta in batches in weekends. I would put it in an air right container and refrigerated until 5 days. I would be easy for making a quick breakfast or dinner. Something went healthy instead of buying at restaurants. You can also try like that to make it quicker in working days.

Ingredients
Main ingredients
  • 1 small cup whole wheat pasta
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • a handful of spinach
For Tempering and Masala
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • little chopped onions
  • 1/2 tsp minced ginger
  • a handful of curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt and a pinch of sugar

Quick Procedure
  • Boil water and add whole wheat pasta in it. Cook till it becomes soft. Once it is cooked, transfer to cold water. Strain the water and collect pasta in a bowl.
  • Heat some coconut oil in a pan. Add curry leaves, minced ginger and onion one by one. Sauté till the onion becomes soft.
  • Add shredded cabbage and palak leaves. Sauté till the leaves release water.
  • Now you can add pasta and give a gentle mix.
  • Add salt, a pinch of sugar, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Toss it up for 2 minutes.
  • Indian Style Whole Wheat Pasta is ready to serve with some hot tea or coffee.
