Today we are going to see a low cost Indian Diet Plan for weight loss. if you are searching for a low cost diet plan for weight loss, this chart will be helpful. It is a budget friendly diet plan for weight loss. 

This is not suggested by my Doctor or Dietitian. This Diet Plan simply has some cheaper and healthy swaps from what they advised me. I just considered the constraints and found a few replacements. I thought that the replacements will be useful to you. So sharing them in this post.

Before seeing the healthy swaps, let us see some partially healthy items we buy and waste in the name of Diet. 

  • Wheat Bread and Peanut Butter
  • Artificial Sweeteners
  • all “Low Sugar labeled” items
  • all “Low Fat labeled” items
  • storebought canned Soups
  • store bought Salad Dressings
  • All those multigrain crackers and snacks

You can simply stop buying all the above said items. They are not going to help you in weight loss. Instead, you will consume more of them in the name of guilt free food and gain some more weight. So “SKIP THEM”

What are those items needed for a diet, costly and need a cheaper swap

  • Baked Chips
  • Breakfast Cereal
  • Almond or Badam
  • Green Tea Pouches
  • Apple, Avocado and other costly Fruits
  • Brown Rice
  • Olive Oil
  • Organic Brown Sugar or Nattu Sarkarai

First let us see the swaps

  • Baked Chips can be replaced with Diet Khakras
  • Breakfast Cereals can be replaced with Ragi Flour
  • Almond or Badam can be partially replaced with Groundnuts
  • Green Tea Pouches can be replaced with Black Coffee / Tea without Sugar
  • Apple, Avocado and other costly Fruits can be replaced with Guava, Gooseberries, Green Grapes and Papayas
  • Brown Rice can be replaced with Varagu or Samai 
  • Olive Oil can be replaced with Coconut Oil or Gingelly Oil
  • Organic Brown Sugar can be replaced with Sarkarai

I have adjusted the diet charts generically given by most of the doctors and dietitians and listing this Plan below. This Plan is with most of the lower cost items. Let us see the Diet Plan with these Cheaper Swaps

Low Cost Indian Diet Plan for Weight Loss

Morning

Black Tea -OR- Coffee without Sugar -OR- Moong Sprouts

Breakfast

Millet Porridge -OR- Wheat Dosa -OR- Red Poha (Sigappu Aval)

Mid Morning Snack

Carrot -OR- Gooseberries

Lunch

Chapathi this with Vegetabke Kurma (More vegetables) -OR-

Rice or Millet Rice with regular kuzhambu and more vegetable side dish 

hint: use cheaper vegetables. Greens, Cabbage, Surakkai and other regional vegetables are cheaper.

Evening

Guava -OR- Sundal -OR- Marie Biscuit

Night

Wheat Dosa -OR- Godhumai Upma

Cravings

Groundnuts -OR- Guava -OR- Buttermilk
