In this post, we are going to see Poondu Kanji Recipe. This is a simple Indian post pregnancy recipe. You can have this Poondu Kanji after delivery. Through this post we are going to see the recipe for this simple Garlic Porridge.
If it is normal delivery, you can have it from second day. If it is C-Section, you can have it from the third day of delivery. Even after any abdominal surgeries, we can use this a Garlic Porridge. It will relieve from gastric pain. It will be very light and easy to suggest.
This Poondu Kanji has more garlic and helps to naturally increase mother’s milk. As it has cumin and fenugreek, it will be good for digestion. To note, you should add only less salt. It is almost similar to regular Paal Kanji. Only the quantity is altered. My mom used to make this and she learnt it from her mom.
Poondu Kanji or Garlic Porridge
- Half Cup Rice Puzhungal Arisi
- 20 Cloves Garlic
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Fenugreek Vendhayam
- 2 Cups Water
- little Salt
Wash and clean rice. Combine all the ingredients in a pressure cooker and add water.
Pressure cook it for 4 to 5 whistles and open after the pressure releases.
Mash the cooked rice with a ladle. Add little salt and hot water. Mix well and serve hot.
