I have added a tempering or thalippu. It adds more taste and makes the porridge undoubtedly tasty. I have added butter milk for tanginess, cumin seeds and asafoetida for flavor and onions for crunchiness. Overall, it will be very tasty. Ingredients
Quick Procedure
- Oats - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Curd - 1/4 cup
- cumin seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
- asafoetida - a pinch
- shallots - 2
- grated ginger - very little
- curry leaves - little
- gingelly oil - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - as per taste
Quick Procedure
- Boil water. Add oats. If it is whole grain oats, it will take 10 minutes to get cooked. If it is quick oats, it will take just 5 minutes.
- Let it get cooled down.
- Heat a pan. Add oil. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
- Add shallots, ginger and curry leaves. Saute twice and switch off the flame.
- Add this tempering to cooked oats. Mix well.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Add curd and mix well again. Oats should not be hot. It might make the curd go bad.
- Thats all. Porridge will be ready. We are done.
