I have added a tempering or thalippu. It adds more taste and makes the porridge undoubtedly tasty. I have added butter milk for tanginess, cumin seeds and asafoetida for flavor and onions for crunchiness. Overall, it will be very tasty. Ingredients
  • Oats - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Curd - 1/4 cup
  • cumin seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
  • asafoetida - a pinch
  • shallots - 2
  • grated ginger - very little
  • curry leaves - little
  • gingelly oil - 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt - as per taste

Quick Procedure
  • Boil water. Add oats. If it is whole grain oats, it will take 10 minutes to get cooked. If it is quick oats, it will take just 5 minutes.
  • Let it get cooled down.
  • Heat a pan. Add oil. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  • Add shallots, ginger and curry leaves. Saute twice and switch off the flame.
  • Add this tempering to cooked oats. Mix well.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Add curd and mix well again. Oats should not be hot. It might make the curd go bad.
  • Thats all. Porridge will be ready. We are done.
